The Remarkable Banyan Tree Of Waikiki

Posted by User ImageSire on Jun-18-2008 under Making Money

I remember how fascinated I was by the Banyan tree when I first saw it in Waikiki. It really was strange how it sent runners down which would root itself into the soil and grow into what appeared to be a new plant although it was still attached to the mother plant.

Another amazing thing is that I found another great site to host my photos. It is called Phototrade and what I love about it is that they actually give their members the opportunity to make money from their photos. At the moment they are in Beta stage and are only accepting invites from existing members. I have three invites so if your are interested just leave me a comment.

That tree is a trip! Is that entire thing all one or just a cluster of several?

It is actually one tree. Quite remarkable, don’t you think?

Yeah, I reckon you could easily have a great little gathering under that tree. We actually have a tree here that housed a family for several years. They even had a couple of kids there and then it got to be to small.

Wow, you cannot grasp the scale of that other tree until you see the backside of it with all the people! There are some rather, massive trees in California (Sequoia National Park)…but I don’t think any of them housed a family…other than squirrels anyway :-P

Yep, and what is remarkable is that it is still standing today. I am going to have to find out what caused the cavity that is big enough to house a family. I reckon it was probably a fire or something.
