Ghost Caught On Tape Haunting An Ohio Gas Station

Posted by User ImageSire on Nov-15-2007 under News, Opinion

Has Casper The Friendly Ghost finally decided to show himself to the public, at least to those at the local gas station in Ohio? There are some who think that the blue blob that mysteriously appeared and hung around for awhile may well be a ghost. Others think that it is actually an angel!

The thing is the tape definitely shows a blue blob floating around and the guy at the gas station doesn’t look like the sort who would be able to doctor a tape. What do you think it is?

Google Or No Google Sire Lives On

Posted by User ImageSire on Oct-30-2007 under Opinion

I ain’t all that worried about Google demoting this blog other than the fact that I will get less PPP tasks. Hell I reckon that is only temporary but all the same I feel that a whole lot of innocent bloggers and webmasters have been harshly dealt with. Then again that is life in the blogosphere, and just to show that even though I have been dealt a cruel blow it hasn’t affected the limited flow of creative juices I have in my veins.

Just to prove my point I’d like to present you with a poem called Google Is Like A Woman! Now I could have reprinted it here but that would be duplicate contend and may hurt my ratings.

Google Upsets Bloggers And Webmasters

Posted by User ImageSire on Oct-28-2007 under Opinion

~~~
Well, it seems that the day we have all been waiting for has finally arrived. Yep, the thousands of bloggers and webmasters who have been anxiously waiting for Google’s latest PR update can now put their mind at ease. The wait is over and now a hell of a lot of them are shaking their heads in disbelief because all their hard work to strengthen their PR has gone up in smoke.
It seems in the latest shakeup Google has decided to kick a whole lot of us, yes me included, in the guts. This blog’s PR has gone form a PR3 to PR0. WellBlogME from a PR3 to PR2 and SBizzTech from a PR0 to PR1. Whoopee! Still I can’t complain because apparently some sites have gone from PR7 to PR4.
According to Andy Beard Google may have pissed off way too many people this time and may well suffer a backlash. Afterall if enough people get tired of Google’s treatment they may well go to other search engines especially if they feel that they have been treated unfairly.
Now we need to work out why Google has decided to treat us in such a fashion. What in hell did we do so wrong? It seems that many SEO tactics that we all so like to use may do more harm than good. So what are Google’s guidelines?
* Make pages for users, not for search engines. Don’t deceive your users or present different content to search engines than you display to users, which is commonly referred to as “cloaking.”
* Avoid tricks intended to improve search engine rankings. A good rule of thumb is whether you’d feel comfortable explaining what you’ve done to a website that competes with you. Another useful test is to ask, “Does this help my users? Would I do this if search engines didn’t exist?”
* Don’t participate in link schemes designed to increase your site’s ranking or PageRank. In particular, avoid links to web spammers or “bad neighborhoods” on the web, as your own ranking may be affected adversely by those links.
* Don’t use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Such programs consume computing resources and violate our Terms of Service. Google does not recommend the use of products such as WebPosition Gold™ that send automatic or programmatic queries to Google.
Mmm, something to ponder wouldn’t you say?
Perhaps we should just disregard Page Rank, except for the fact that for Paid Bloggers it determines the amount of money we can earn. I was wondering if all my paid post is what has caused my loss in PR? If that is the case then I say Google’s PR can take a flying leap into the proverbial cesspool of diarrhea because I love blogging for money and no results taken from any web crawler is going to tell me any different.
So fellow bloggers what say you? Did Google knock you for a six and if so how do you feel about it?
Helium Changing The Rules!
Posted by User ImageSire on Oct-23-2007 under General, Opinion
~~~

First let me say that I love Helium but I find it very annoying when they decide to delete my articles without telling me why it was deleted. They did send me an email about one article they deleted, so I went through my other articles only to find they had deleted articles as well.

They one the did tell me about apparently was found to be “more promotional than informative”! Strange considering there were no links in the article and that it actually was rated number one at the time. I can only conclude that someone with a lower rating complained. I admit that as an example I referred to Communat several times but then it was only an example and absolutely of no benefit to me for mentioning them.

I then noticed the other articles that were deleted. it appears that they changed the word minimum from 100 to 200 words and then decided to backdate the articles. As mine was a poem I had to modify the entry and re-submitted it. I don’t mind rule changes but some notification would be nice and backdating to catch out what used to be conforming articles seems a little harsh.

Maybe you should check to see if any of yours have been deleted?

BlogRush Update

Posted by User ImageSire on Sep-27-2007 under Opinion, SEO Tactics

Not even a week and already the team at Blogrush are having teething problems. Unfortunately the majority of these have been caused by people who are trying to cheat the system. Didn’t take them long to raise their ugly heads. Still the team at Blogrush are on these parasites. Here is part of an email they sent to all members.

If you attempt to cheat or abuse our network in anyway, shape, or
form, we will not hesitate to come after you. Our company is well
funded and has plenty of resources. And we WILL use them to punish
you to the fullest extent of the law (and civil court process). Oh,
you think you can just hide behind some anonymous proxy IPs? Sorry,
it’s not that easy. ANY reason you’d have to try and cheat the
BlogRush network for traffic and any attempt you make to monetize
that traffic will lead directly to your front door — whether it’s
AdSense, any affiliate program in the world, any online pharmacy,
porn site, casino… ANYTHING. We will follow the trail and it WILL
eventually lead to you.

They will also now be reviewing all blogs manually and are looking for quality blogs. Those who are not deemed worthy will be given the flick. This will of course help the rest of the members achieve their full potential.

There have been many improvements even in this sort period including the introduction of “flavors” which now means the widget can blend in a whole heap better with individual blogs.

I strongly recommend serious bloggers to install this widget as I see great things for BlogRush members.

Sire Rates The Paid To Post Sites!

Posted by User ImageSire on Jul-20-2007 under Making Money, Opinion

Yep, I’ve been using these sites for awhile now, so I thought it is about time I rate them in my order of preference.

PayPerPost is definitely No.1 for for simple reasons.
1: The amount of opportunities available
2: The high pay rate for bloggers
3: The great affiliate program
4: Ease of use and constant updates which are always done with the bloggers in mind.

Blogsvertise is No. 2 for the following reasons.
1: Actually contacts the blogger when a task presents itself.
2: You can actually set a minimum you will accept.
3: Payout not as high as PPP but higher than others.
4: Offers an affiliate program where you get 20% of what advertisers spend on advertising.
Just note that they do require 3 links per post.

PayU2Blog.com I have done a review on this site here and have rated it as No 3 for ease of use and because of quick payment,

Blogitive would have received a No 3 rating except for the fact that it requires two unpaid posts between any paid posts. This naturally lifts the work load for the blogger. As it is I rate it No 4
1: Offers a lot of opportunities but maximum payout only $5 per post.

LoudLaunch rates as No 5
1: Will occasionally notify the blogger of tasks but it pays to log in to check.
2: Consistent payouts of $7.50 per blog

Review Me has received a rating of No. 6 yet it could be so much better. I just haven’t done so well with it and the fact that they rejected 2 of my post after first approving and paying me for it with no explanation didn’t help their rating.
1: Payouts a lot higher
2: Bloggers can put badge on site with the $ value they will accept for posts

BloggerWave No 7 is relatively new and may in time climb up the ladder.
1: Pay per post as high as $10
2: If you have multiple blogs you can accept the same task for each blog.

Smorty No 8 is also relatively new and also has the potential to climb up the ladder.
1: My highest payout to date for a single post is $6
2: More ops than bloggerwave but I have actually made more with bloggerwave.

SponsoredReviews No 9 and I don’t really have anything good to say about them as I have never had an opportunity to write for them. I have included the link because other bloggers out there may well have more luck.

If you found this of some use you can actually earn $7.50 by reviewing this post by just clicking on the badge below.

What? Another Blogging Tip?

Posted by User ImageSire on Jun-29-2007 under Blogging Tips, Opinion

OK, this one is simply my opinion. When writing a post I think it is important not to waffle and write a while lot of BS just to pad your post to make it longer. Remember that we all live in a busy world and there are times when a person may skip a post just because it was too long and they didn’t want to take the time to read it. So as far as I am concerned less is best.

Another thing to consider is the language you use. There is no point in trying to amaze the reader with your knowledge of big words, use the old keep it simple trick. For those of you whose blogs include topics such as technology, law etc., I recommend that you write your posts in a fashion that everybody can understand it and not just techies and lawyers. Using layman terms is always better and bound to get a larger readership.

Will Ads Hurt My Blog?

Posted by User ImageSire on Jun-27-2007 under Making Money, Opinion

This is a question many bloggers ask and it is my opinion that done correctly it won’t hurt your blog at all. Let’s face it most people understand that bloggers also have to make a living and so they expect to see ads on the blog. As long as you provide good and interesting content there is no problem displaying ads on your blog. Saying that I would stay clear of pop-ups and such as many people find this annoying, I know I do.

I would recommend keeping an eye on how the ads are performing and change those that are not generating income. Rather than having hundreds of ads that do nothing for you except increase the amount of time it takes your blog to load it’s best to concentrate on the ones actually making you money.

Should You Comment On Blogs?

Posted by User ImageSire on Jun-21-2007 under Blogging Tips, Opinion

You bet your hard earned blogging dollars you should! Why do you ask? Well let’s just think about it for a second. As a blogger you know how excited you get when someone stops by and leaves you a comment. It just doesn’t happen enough and it’s probably because people just couldn’t be bothered. Well just imagine if we were to make a commitment to ourselves to leave at least one comment a day. That means that everyday you will make another blogger’s day but there are more benefits.

Every time you leave a comment you also leave a link to your own blog. Now even though that link will not be picked up by Google, if you left a well constructed comment you will get visitors from people clicking on your link because they want to see who left such a great comment. I get several of these every day.

Just keep in mind that the comment should be related to the post. “Great post” just doesn’t cut it. If you haven’t got something nice to say then get the hell out and look for another blog. If we were all to practice this I reckon everyone will benefit. So have you commented today?

Damn Yanks Get All The Breaks

Posted by User ImageSire on Jun-13-2007 under Making Money, Opinion

Damn but these Yanks get all the breaks. As much as I love being a member of PPP, it really pisses me off no end when I see that those lucky Americans get all the lucky breaks. This would have been a great post because I loved the movie Reno 911 Miami, and I would have gotten to write about my favourite character.

So if your a Yank and you haven’t joined PPP yet, you’re crazy. I’m telling you join now and be grateful you ain’t a Aussie. It’s easy to join, just click on the badge below and review this post. You will even get paid $7.50 for your trouble.
