Blogging The Money Way

How about some Blog Hopping which I hope is great way to promote our blogs. The way it works is you have one post where you post the links of other interesting blogs. They will reciprocate using the exact method on their blog. Every time you need to add a new link you just edit the original post. This will get picked up by Google and Technorati resulting in higher ranking blogs.

I recommend that we do not include more than 10 links per post. Once you have reached 10 links just start a new post.

My first link will point to Scotty’s blog who like me knows a good thing when he sees it.

Link Me Up Scotty An experimental Blog with good ideas!

Melly’s Blog The blog of an interesting housewife who runs her own bridal shop and has many interests.

Mels Daily Use A brand new blog incorporating products you may use daily.

Did You Know is an great blog with a lot of interesting information. Did You Know is a blog well worth a visit.

My Favourite Things I love the way this blogger has structured her “favourite things” to be so informative.

Ryme Time Hers is something completely different a ryming blog.

River City Rants a bloggers rant including some great reviews.

SandraFirebird.com a woman who also promotes good ideas and ways of making more money. I especially liked her ‘How To Give A Cat A Pill’ post.

Now all we need do is add links with a brief description so it all fits neatly on one line. Leave a comment if you’re interested.

This sounds like a great idea. I am having trouble getting started and getting any traffic at all yet. I was told not to put my blogs in traffic exchanges so am trying to figure out how to get some traffic going.

Hi there Mr Sire! How do I link icons and other codes to my blogsite - just exactly where do I put the code?

Hiya Hutts you would put the code in your post that you set up for links, just as I have done this one.

Well you didn’t develop Blog Hopping. ;) The idea is not so unique. Blog hop, also known as blog hopping, is to move from one blog after another to read the entries or to leave comments. Your unique idea sounds a lot like something Mack Collier of The Viral Garden, came up with. See http://www.macbrosplace.com/its-link-whore-time

My dear Rose, there is an actual link linking to your forum in the post, which I have just removed because you deleted the post, Pua’s idea was to leave links in the comments. I knew this didn’t work as all links I’ve ever left in comments never showed up in technorati, so I took it one step further.

I checked your link and until now I’ve never heard of the Z list. Even so mine is different and I believe it will appeal to more bloggers. Here are his instructions

The premise is simple: Write a post, and copy and paste my list from below into it. Make sure the links are active and correct. If your blog is on that list, remove it because your post isn’t about self-promotion. Don’t worry, because if your name is on mine, it’s on others and will spread. Add your favorite deserving blogs to the top of the list (not compulsory). Publish the post. People will notice the incoming links, and hopefully write their own z-list posts. The result will be that we all get more links pointing to our blogs, and more readers — it’s got to be good!

So basically you will get a list of a whole heap of blogs you know nothing about and you may not even want to associate with. With my method you can pick who you want to do an exchange with. I like mine better, but then I am biased. :bye_tb:

Your idea is pretty much the same as Mark’s and I hope that Google does not see it as a link farm or you can kiss your PR goodbye and Yeah you linked to my forum all right, but uh your friend Did not come up with Blog hopping. lol

If each post does not include more than 10 links there is no way it could be considered as link farming. Also there is no reason why there can’t be more than one definition to the term “Blog Hopping”. You may notice that there are hundreds of definitions in the dictionary with more than one meaning.

And again I would like to enforce that mine is nothing like Marks, as mine will only include links I agree to.

Well to be completely accurate wikipedia defines it as

to follow links from one blog entry to another, with related side-trips to various articles, sites, discussion forums, and more.

and says nothing about leaving comments along the way. It seems you added that bit yourself which is quite ok, except when you have a go at someone else for doing the same thing. I like the term blog hopping and I think I will keep using it, unless I get an email from wikipedia asking me not to.

Now you said you use that code every time you want to put something in your blog, that right? Now that could be a url for anything? Thanks.

The code will work for any blog that accepts html. Wordpress has a button that inserts the code for you. Are you interested in doing a blog hop?

Hi Sire,

It sounds like a good idea to me. I have heard of it before during Nanowrimo but it wasn’t publicised. Most people seem to think it’s ok to exchange links with people you know. Maybe you just got up Rosie’s nosie.

This is a pretty great idea. The thing is that I do not trust many people. Hope everyone puts the links so it can be fair and square.

That is true Nsane, some people can not be trusted but this is true in all link exchange. I have noticed though that the links appear in technorati so if a link disappears it can be traced and then you can remove your link.

Also if say 10% of links are untrustworthy out of 100 links you still have 90 that are legitimate. Do you give up the 90 for the sake of 10?

Hi skouba, thanks for popping by. You simply start your own post explaining the concept of blog hopping with a link to my blog and let me know in a comment here with the url to your post. I then put a link in my post. Thanks for joining in.
