Pedestal sinks do give a small space the illusion of more space. I remodeled a 6 x 10 bathroom that had a vanity sink and it took up almost all of the space. I turned the corner into shelves floor to ceiling and put in a pedestal sink instead and the room’s visual space nearly tripled and the corner shelves actually were effectively the new countertop space.
