When I first bought my Panasonic Viera 46 inch Plasma TV I was really quite pleased with the package except for one thing, the sound. Naturally one would expect to enhance the viewing experience by adding a Home Theatre System and I went for the Panasonic SC-PT460 Home Theatre System.

If you are looking for a system that will blow your windows out this is definitely not for you. What it does have, apart from good crisp clear sound with enough power for the average family, is ease of use. The one thing that I hate is when the wife always has to get me to show her how to get the video, dvd or whatever to work as he never knows what switch to push to link it all together. With Panasonic’s Viera link it is no longer a problem as all you do is place in the DVD, select DVD on the remote and the system takes care of the rest even selecting the right channel to view the DVD. One important note, for this to work the TV and the system have to be connected via a HDMI cable.

For those of you who are interested in actual specs, the sytem does produce 125w RMS per channel including the sub-woofer. Watching a movie with the surround sound through the Dolby Pro Logic II is really cool and once experienced you would never go back to a non surround system.

There are some that say that the CERN Particle Collider could spell doom for the Earth and that we could all be sucked into a black hole. Makes you wonder who is crazier, the skeptics or the scientists.

CERN is supposedly the most powerful atom-smasher ever built and it came online today a moment that was eagerly anticipated by scientists worldwide. As I am still breathing I reckon that the skeptics lose out on this one. I wonder if they are disappointed?

When Stating The Obvious Is Just Enough

I found this joke in one of my old emails and I thought as how it would fit right into this blog. I just hope the next time I’m in a plane it has the capacity for the pilot to wind the window down.

There was a pilot flying a small single engine charter plane, with a couple of very important executives on board. He was coming into Seattle airport through thick fog with less than 10 miles visibility when his instruments went out. So, he began circling around looking for a landmark. After an hour or so, he starts running pretty low on fuel and the passengers are getting very nervous.

Finally, a small opening in the fog appears and he sees a tall building with one guy working alone on the fifth floor. The pilot banks the plane around,rolls down the window and shouts to the guy, “Hey where am I?”

To this, the solitary office worker replies, “You’re in a plane.”

The pilot rolls up the window, executes a 275 degree turn and proceeds to execute a perfect blind landing on the runway of the airport 5 miles away. Just as the plane stops, so does the engine as the fuel has run out.

The passengers are amazed and one asks how he did it.

“Simple,” replies the pilot, “I asked the guy in that building a simple question. The answer he gave me was 100 percent correct but absolutely useless, therefore that must be Microsoft’s support office and from there the airport is just five miles due East.”
